Two siblings are speaking out for the first time about how Halifax police "invaded" one of their homes in the middle of the night, then assaulted him as he tried to protect his sister from getting seriously hurt.

I see. When cops commit crimes it's 'cop bashing' to report on them. So noted.

I hope they win their lawsuit and clear off their debt, but it sounds like those two officers should have been punished far more than they were.

I can't believe they are still working. Pretty sure if I broke into someone's home and beat them mercilessly, I'd be doing time.

In BC we had an RCMP still working after being criminally convicted of assault. We know this because it came out at his trial for a second case of assault while on the job. We've had them shoot people and give bullshit stories and still be working. Cops get a bye way to often. Most of them are OK, but there's a significant minority that isn't, and they don't get the same consequences for their misbehaviour as the average person.

It's only cop bashing if the story is not true.

One of the officers, Const. Jordan Gilbert, was later sanctioned for illegal entry and assault, after a decision by a police complaint review board. But he was never criminally charged and he kept his job.

It's funny, because if you or I broke into a person's home, then their bedroom and assaulted and tazered several people, I'm pretty sure we'd be charged.

It's not 'bashing'. It's 'enumerating'. As in, another case where a Badge makes them above the law.

Like I say all the time: All I want is for cops to be held to the exact same standards that they expect of everyone else. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's cop bashing when 99% of the police related articles that are posted are negative in nature

You guys love to shit on police and ignore the good they do and focus on the bad....I get it...but don't expect everyone else not to see the trend here.

    Dump on...

You wanna see something positive in 2 cops breaking into a house and beating the shit out of the people, then walking away from it ?

Sorry, but we give the police the power to enforce our laws and the authority to bash heads if needed. We are well within our rights to point out when an officer steps past the line.

If there were more positive stories, they'd get posted.
