Pro cheerleading 'should be abolished'

Critics say that professional cheerleading is sexist, and a recent spate of class-action suits against NFL teams suggests it's also exploitative. This has led some observers to suggest that maybe it's time to abolish this outdated job.

Football players wear skin tight silky pants, no pockets, and laced at the crotch. Shoulder and chest pads. Lots of eye candy for the girls. But they want to get rid of the chearleaders? Come on.

Outside of football, I never really got the whole idea of cheerleaders. With football you have all those stops after every play. Basketball and hockey are essentially back and forth action with very short breaks, 'cept for commercial breaks. And intermissions, well pretty much everyone is heading for the johns and/or concession stands.
The whole concept is pretty stupid really. Like there isn't enough testosterone flying around the arena/stadium during a hockey, football or b-ball game without adding the "bounce and jiggle".

They're the only thing that makes football worth watching.

Really... Yeah, that's why you see nothing but football player's crotches plastered all over the internet. Seriously? Might wanna give your head a shake. I'd let my daughter (if I had one) go out in a football uniform FAR before a cheerleader outfit. I'd rather her look like one of those "eye candy" jocks than a cheap pole dancer.

I really can't believe you said that. Worse yet, possibly believe it... :?

For the nanny state crowd, there seems to be no social ill to petty that doesn't require a massive intervention by the state.

    This.

The statists absolutely HATE any human activity that they don't or can't control.

Isn't the whole point of feminism to let women do what they want with their bodies? If they want to jump around in mini-skirts waving pom-poms, who cares?

If you don't like it, don't watch it...

The bigger point is more why these women are worst off than minimum-wage workers considering they're working for billionaire owners to cheer on multi-millionaire players. It's bloody disgusting how they're treated, even in an industry as openly vile as professional American football.

Nothing new there though. Just the ongoing transfer of wealth to the billionaires aided and abetted by the millionaires in office.

You'd think that if they hired someone where date-rape and enforced bulimia is an expected part of the job that they'd be classy enough to pay them a bit more than a fry cook at McRottens. Hold up a picture of professional sports next to one of an open sewer and it'd be difficult to tell the difference between the two anymore.
