The mother of a nine-year-old girl found dead in a vehicle near Sundre last week has been charged with first-degree murder.

This didn't have to happen. Mounties were told that mom didn't return the girl and was in contravention of the custody order, but it wasn't taken too seriously by the looks of things.

Then she turns up dead two days later.
