$12.99 per ticket and up, plus a $7-$10 "VIP Surcharge". But it includes valet parking. A bit over-the-top for movies, no? Sounds like it's just for showing off how much cash you can piss away.

Usually it's 'adult' assholes with cell phones, rather than kids, that are the biggest annoyances in theaters.

Since they're serving booze, sounds like a good business plan. It will really take off if pot becomes legal - clean up at the snack bar too.

Pfft. My local theater is already like this...well sort of. There's a liquor store right next to the theater where I'm sure 90% of it's business is mickey's.

I'd be surprised if this thing really takes off. All I want from my movie theatre are comfortable seats, kick ass sound and a clear picture on the screen all at a reasonable price. I don't need booze or high end food to enhance the above. While I'm sure some will I be surprised if there were enough to pay the premium to make this viable, especially considering how expensive it is to see a movie these days.

When we were in Taiwan, most of the multiplex theatres had smaller venues with barker lounge type seats(actually closer to a really plush first class seat from a 747) and you could have meals catered from the food court. They served beer or wine as well.

    First?

VIP has been open for quite some time now...

    Edmonton has 1.
    BC has 2.
    Manitoba has 1.
    Ontario has 6.
    Quebec has 1.

*All VIP theatres are for adults only, age varies by province.

I couldn't tell you about the others, but Edmonton's is quite popular.

We already have theatres that serve alcohol in Freedomland. Some even have a full service dinner with waiters and everything.
