Still unclear if he was scared shitless of blacks or just a racist dick, I'm thinking a little of both. Anyone trying to attack you wouldn't be pounding the front door and if you are genuinely scared, keep the door closed and secure all other entrances and call the cops man.

People taking this whole stand and fight your ground thing a bit too far, with gramps chasing people down the street and shooting them and that other dick who set up a trap in his basement and recorded the whole incident.

The problem is that in Detroit the police response time is measured in hours, if they even come.



I agree in principal with stand your ground but it looks like some are using it as an excuse to just blast away at anyone or anything that even steps foot on the property.

That's the US for ya. Out of control with guns. I'm sure living in Detroit he had a legitimate fear and bias against black people in sketchy situations. Like that black guy who said if he sees a black kid in a hoodie walking toward him at night he'll cross the street. That doesn't give you right to shoot them when your life is not in danger. Even if she had been up to no good, vandalizing his porch say, (which she wasn't) that doesn't justify killing her. Look at Bart - 'Mericans are paranoid, they think other races are out to get them, so is the govt, and the UN. It's what happens when a society is too successful, I guess. People have to make up problems when they don't have real ones. It's like yeast, but they're not shitting out alcohol but negative waves. They need to be more this this Canadian.

There are no first world problems in Detroit. Its basically a third world shithole that happens to be located in the U.S. One does not have to imagine problems in Detroit. There are currently over 100,000 people with no drinking water in Detroit. No bathing, toilets do not flush, not a pretty picture.

I remember a similar story from wayyyy back about a Japanese exchange student, Yoshihiro Hattori who was on his way to a Halloween party and went to the wrong house and was shot. The shooter was acquitted.

My feeling is if you are going to have a law like this, it should require you to have a $15 intercom on the edge of your property with a big sign saying "Trespassers will be shot". Maybe require a gate too.

At least this way, when people are inside your property line, you can be absolutely sure they are up to no good, and not just some Avon Lady trying to make a buck.

Exactly. There were neighbourhoods the cops wouldn't go into at all without an armoured vehicle, and that was some 20+ years ago. One thing is for sure, Detroit has only gotten exponentially worse.
Not that it excuses this guy's actions in any way.
