"The government deplores the violent actions being undertaken by ISIL (Isis) and other extremist groups in Iraq and Syria, and is deeply concerned about the involvement of Australians in these activities."

The involvement of Australians posed "a significant domestic security threat to Australia when those involved return home and seek to pursue violence here".

See how easy it will be to replace 'Australia' with 'Canada' ?

So the Aussies have one less jihadi to worry about.

    Good for them.

"Abu Bakr al-Australi" sounds like a probable convert.

We already have Canadians doing this. And they didn't blow themselves up, just got themselves shot. We just have to hope that the cops and CSIS are on this, since they're certainly not going to tell us about it.

The best way to prevent this, short of putting muslims in camps, is to actually build ties between the community and cops. And that's just what's happening. I know you two would prefer the former solution, or even the final solution, but that doesn't build a very successful society, as we've seen.

Canadians can understand fighting for ideology, volunteering for the Spanish Civil war or signing up with the US Army for Vietnam.
We can't sympathize with joining anyone to kill for God. If God tells you to kill, it's the dictionary definition of insane.
