Yellowstone road melts in 'hot spot' created by supervolcano heat

Parts of Yellowstone National Park in America's north-west were temporarily closed Thursday after underground heat from the park's super volcano combined with high summer temperatures melted a section of road.

Bull crap, this is caused by to much oil in the mix and or not enough mixing. once they started to see oil bleeding out of the pavement, all they had to do was sand it using a winter sanding truck. The sand soaks the excess oil. Left unsanded, the sticky oil sticks to the car tires and pieces of road are pulled out. This has nothing to do with a suppercano. lol

Surprising that the ground heated enough to melt the road but not enough to kill the surrounding vegetation.

25C will make it bleed, bty this isn't regular hotmix asphalt. This is a cold mix that can be mixed right on the road. A simple thing like the guy spraying the oil, can without realizing, slow down enough while lighting a smoke, and there you go, to much oil in that spot. RPM's, speed and experience is the only science put in to making this stuff. In Alberta we call it Saskatchewan Pavement.

This story brought to you by the same rag that got all worked up over the possibility of a super volcano eruption because of some video of some buffalo going for a spring-time jog along one the roadways in Yellowstone.

Yeah, I think the English are maybe deep down hoping that something catastrophic could happen someplace other than the UK, maybe.

Except USA today is on the story too, so there goes that theory.

It is strange how they are all of a sudden jumping all over any Yellowstone super volcano story though. I noticed that myself. That might be the real story.

Here's another angle to view it from though.

    Just for fun. :)

Global warming exists. The science says so.

The conditions for a large volcano below Yellowstone exist. The science says so.

There is no real world evidence of an inevitable global warming catastrophe.

There is no real world evidence of an inevitable super volcano catastrophe.

But one we take seriously, and the other we mock. Why is that?

But does the Daily Mail go overboard on the Super volcano story.

    Well...

Is US government working on secret evacuation plan in case Yellowstone megavolcano erupts?

Millions of U.S. citizens could end up in Brazil, Australia, or Argentina if the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, it has been claimed.

Make you wanna chuckle or chuck up right?

If this thing blows up, do they actually think that Brazil, Australia, or Argentina will be safe?

We wouldn't need to worry about global warming for a few decades or longer.

Expect the ash in the atmosphere to tank global tempatures, hell we might even end up with a mini ice age.

Take a good look at the side of the road in the picture. Notice how the plant life is doing just fine and dandy?
Yep, that volcano is hot enough to melt asphalt but not even hot enough to turn the trees and grass even slightly brown

We live like 20 miles from Yellowstone and we're not worried about it blowing up or anything. Stuff happens around here but it's no biggie.

I have no idea why you continue to mock it.

Well, because 2012 came and went, but you're still here. And those damned Mayans promised me that wouldn't happen. :P

    Apocalypse when?

Actually, there's plenty of evidence. It happens somewhat regularly on a geologic timescale.
The last one just about ended humankind.
It's kind'a like saying there's no real world evidence that "the big one"(earthquake) off the West Coast is inevitable. It may not happen when you and I are still alive, but it's gonna happen. This is an active, living planet.
