now, if that was a civilian..what would the punishment be?? hum??
Although, if that was a civilian gun owner without a doubt they would be in jail, waiting trial and all of their firearms would have been taken.
I wonder if that officer is going to lose the right to use a firearm, ending his career in the RCMP?
Clearly the police are not going to charge one of their own with the crime that was clearly committed, so all we are left with is injustice.
Well from a quick search of other Canadians that shot people;
"criminal negligence with a firearm"
"careless storage of a firearm"
"careless use of a firearm"
"criminal negligence causing bodily harm"
"handling a firearm in a careless manner"
"discharging/handling a firearm in a careless manner or without consideration"
I'm not sure if any of those are real crimes, but that's what the media has reported on a number of people that accidentally shot people were charged with.
I guess accidents happen.

What really happened; One mountie has a srong dislike for his coworker so he waited until they get called out to a call of a 'mentally unbalanced citizen with a firearm' and takes this oportunity to try to kill his partner. Unfortunately, during the ensuing scuffle his partner made an unexpected move and was only 'winged'.
Idiot!!
