Unfortunately, the taxpayers of Ontario will be the losers regardless of who wins.

I don't think anyone was the clear "winner". I do know that Kathleen Wynne looked awful.

The stammering, the constant defence and the hand waving....someone needs to nail her hands to the podium next week.

Poor performance for Wynne. Both Hudak and Horwath did far better.

But I thought the taxpayers will be the clear winner if Hudak wins, what with creating 1 million jobs, firing all those entitled civil servants and slashing spending on frills like education and healthcare?

    Doubtful.

It can't get much worse than it is today. A group of monkeys at the helm could do a better job.

Wynne is not ready for primetime (never mind being a crook). The polls are indicating before that many people who support the Liberals won't bother voting. Methinks last night's debacle will keep more people at home on election day.

It's time for change. No matter which political party you follow, it is unhealthy in a democracy for any one party to be in power for too long. Throwing the bums out, periodically, is an essential part of our system. That time is coming closer in the Federal arena as well. The Liberals overstayed their welcome in a big way a decade or two back and have just about fizzled and died for it. The current government also runs the risk of becoming reviled, eventually.

I guess you've already forgotten the joys of Bob Rae and Mike Harris.

I'll admit I'm not that informed about Ontario politics, but based on what I know, it seems like the election is about choosing the lesser of three incompetents/evils.

I watched the whole debate, and here are the points I made:

    1) After being lame in other public forums in the past, Tim Hudak was decisive, made his points, and added a bit of humility to himself as well. He was prepared, stayed calm, and did a good job answering questions.

    2) Andrea Horwath made some good points, got in a couple of jobs, but the fact that she said she would raise taxes, and that she was mostly in a bitch-fight with Wynne, kept her from asserting herself properly. Still, I gained a measure of respect for how she handled everything. Will never like her party, however.

    3) Kathleen Wynne got MAULED, and constantly. Dodged most of the criticisms, had no plan of attack, and looked very bad in getting across whatever her point was.

Still....one of the better debates as of late.
