For the first time, scientists have conducted an extremely precise measurement of antimatter atoms. The ALPHA collaboration, an international group of scientists including many Canadians, has now measured the charge of antihydrogen — the antimatter versio

    Can't . . . keep . . .Science . . .to . . .myself . . .

When the Universe was created, theory goes that equal amounts of matter and anti-matter were created. If that were true, they would have annihalated each other, and this would be a big empty place. But there is all this stuff around us, so where did it come from?

What they are finding is 'why'. Other experiments in the LHC show that matter/antimatter creation at the big bang was about 51% to 49% respectively, so what is all around us is the remainder of all that wasn't destroyed after the big bang.

So, testing if antimatter and matter share the same physical characteristics is important to knowing how the Big Bang happened.

Just think how much more there would be in space. If they are right what we have is just 2% of all the matter from the initial bang. If the ratio was more in favor of matter then so much more would be out there. 8)

So, maybe, when the big bang occurred, two symmetric universes were created ... a "Matter" universe and an "Antimatter" universe equal and opposite. Perhaps a bit of antimatter has become trapped on this side and a bit of matter on the "Other" side of the big bang. Maybe, the universe comes to a final end when the two sides deflate and meet each other in a great big bang.

... all that on a dram of Teachers Highland Cream.
