Well, maybe that's the difference. Very little pushback from Muslims when people do evil things in the name of their religion. They should definitely work on that and stop making excuses.

Remember when I mentioned that you had a bad tendency to deflect serious faults of Islam by attempting to tarnish Christianity? Here's another case. The article does not mention in any way that this guy was a Christian nor did he get any inspiration for his acts from the Bible.

You got me. I assumed that when the judge said she was referring to the bible. I've never heard other religions call their books scripture.

But, we also had the Christian who mutilated his son giving him a home circumcision because the bible told him to. We have lots of evil done by people who say the bible told them to do it.

So the one deflecting is you. My pointing out that it's not only Muslims that use their holy book to justify evil, other religions, including Christians do it too. That's not deflecting ( read the first part of the previous sentence very carefully), that's balancing people who only want to point fingers at Muslims. I'm not attempting to tarnish Christianity, it has a pretty good layer of it tarnish without my doing. When you only look at other religions, not your own, that's deflecting from seeing the log in your own eye.

More importantly, even if he is a "Christian", somehow giving you a tiny little red herring to somehow distract from the sociological and cultural problems and issues of Islam today...what sect of Christianity? That's the great thing about we Christians, we have this thing called "churches" who are generally organized, with baseline teachings. I highly doubt this...person...would fit in any mainstream church, and most likely not even in churches like the Westboro Baptist Church.

Nope. And he wouldn't fit into any Muslim group either. Islam has big problems. Far too many of its adherents follow barbaric practices and are intolerant of other religions. But when you only focus on those, don't reach out to Muslims who are living perfectly peaceful lives as good citizens, you just make those problems worse. When you harp over and over on the evil done by Muslims, and only by Muslims, you're making the problems worse.

The success of the RCMP that stopped at least two terror plots that were reported by Muslims. The fact that the more peaceful Muslims feel accepted the more they are likely to do this.

Vs just demonizing them all, over and over looking for stories of some outrage anywhere in the world.

In BC we have Christians "marrying" underage girls in polygamous marriages. Does this mean that all Christians do this? Of course not. When some Muslims do evil, does it mean all Muslims support this? Of course not.

Never said he would, either. You made this about religion, not I. However, when a story comes out about Islamic terrorism, or female circumcision, or more recently, child brides, or any story, really, that puts Islam in a negative light, you either post, or try to find red herrings to try to paint some false equivalency between Islam and other religions (which really means Christianity).

You're acting like if you're somehow some integration crusader, but you're really just alienating the majority to protect the minority, which causes far more problems. Does Christianity have it's problems? No doubt. The Catholic Church specifically (although other churches had similar scandals) had a significant issue with their priest scandals, and that is something they need to be held accountable for. But the faults and problems of Christianity does not somehow excuse the faults and problems of Islam today.

You know, Christianity has had a huge positive impact on society. Be it charity work, outreach programs, reforming criminals and other lost souls, youth programs etc etc etc. Most of those positive stories will never be told. That's just life. The good deeds you do will generally be overshadowed by the one or two bad deeds you do. If you break the law, more people will know you for that than the 150 times you held open a door for some elderly lady at Walmart. It's how things work. Sure, 99.9% of Muslims in North America are no different than anybody else, here to start and have a life, provide for their family, etc. That small fraction paint the rest in a bad life (same with priests, teachers, cops, and most other groups that have scandals).

People harp on the problems and issues of Islam today because...well, they're serious problems that Muslims need to deal with. People in the west focus on these problems because they want something done about it, but they can only encourage Muslims in those parts of the world to do something, since the West could only change those problems through force of arms. More importantly, we in the West are seeing some of those faults come here, be it Islamic terrorism or female circumcision.
