I guess the French people finally woke up and saw that the economy and immigration in the hands of a socialist martinet just didn't work.

Well that and the 75% millionaires tax which likely didn't make him any friends either since it scared away pretty much any real investment. :P

Yeah, and it isn't just that the Socialists are starting to lose, it's who's beating them.

Have you heard about Marine Le Pen and the FN, or in English the National Front?

I heard somewhere Marine is a good friend of Geert Wilders. Don't know how true that is, but that pretty much tells you where she's coming from. She`s a French, Female Geert Wilders.

    So...

The Socialists have now announced that they will join forces with the Greens and the Communist Party in an effort to block FN advances in the second round, AFP news agency reports. It will mean the three parties fielding combined electoral lists.

And allying with the Commies tells us where Hollande and his bunch have always come from. Go Marine, I say.

Could be but even a lefty like you has to admit the 75% luxury tax was a stretch. Hell, even the biggest communist economy left on the planet isn't dense enough try that.

So, this resignation has less to do with his "omnipotent overlords" and more to do with a self inflicted stupidity wound, causing political death.

That was the tax rate, or thereabouts, on the superrich in the world's freest societies

Are you saying every country in the free world has a 75% tax rate or around that for the super rich? If that's truly the case you can see why they hide their money. So taxing them at that rate is actually counter productive since the country gets zip, nada, nothing from them.

You mean voters? Yes. They will destroy you. The Socialist Party just learned this in France. Sadly they couldn't get around to removing democratic institutions and becoming a one party state. Ah well.
