University president Vianne Timmons said she learned about the social event, which involved "culturally inappropriate themes and costumes," Saturday morning.

"In particular, I want to apologize to all people of Aboriginal ancestry associated with this University. They have a right to expect better of our institution."

What? No apology to the cowboys? What a freakin bigot.

Timmons said the coach apologized and team members will take cultural sensitivity training.

You have GOT to be freakin' kidding me! Well, I guess they better make sure no Natives at the University wear blue jeans, after all that's culturally insensitive. Or does it not work that way?

They obviously forgot to ask the LGBT Cowboy Crew to participate.

    Tut tut.

All the feigned anguish and overwrought moral outrage(by a few self hating white apologists) has most people, including most natives, rolling their eyes and shaking their heads at the silliness.

Apparently the student's at University of Windsor are giving the general politically correct insanity seen at Canadian campuses "a rest".

The University of Windsor’s entire student government board has been ousted following a campus-wide election in which “None of the Above” defeated 12 different candidates for 12 different positions.

So, what appears to have happened here is an apology was made to a group of easily offended persons, which in turn offended another group of the easily offended. Ain't life great! Perhaps another apology is in order or will that lead to a third group of the easily offended being offended?

Well yeah, I said that in the first reply. What about the poor cowboys.

Beware the pitfalls of social media. The "response" seems disproportionate to the "offense".

The powers that be seem to want to make an example of these women.

WTF.... I guess I and all my friends are in big trouble for playing Cowboys and Indians all those decades ago. 8O

Maybe an apology is in order.

To all the hypersensitive twits who ascribe to this insanity just allow me to say.

The theme and costumes chosen by my and other generations weren't offensive or insensitive till you decided they were and while you may consider them completely inconsistent with your values, allow me to say that those values are the mantra of some fucked up politically correct bunch of apologists who, are to thick to understand that everything in the world isn't about insensitivity and that having fun isn't necessarily anymore a racist, inappropriate or insensitive response than someone deciding to do the thinking for every other race, creed, or colour on the planet just so they can feel better about themselves.

My brothers and sisters played that game sometimes. I always wanted to be an Indian cause then I could wear pantyhose like a hat and pretend I had two really long braids. :D

It isn't the angst over the photo that bothers me. It's how quickly the university (from the president on down) scrambled to throw the team under the bus, very publicly, for "inappropriate cosplay". There are appropriate ways to discipline students for transgressions and chewing them out in the national media is most certainly not one of them.

    I question their competence.

Thing is, how can anybody in university be that dense and out of touch that they don't understand this will just blow back on them? I understand cheerleaders might not be the sharpest knives in the drawer, but can you get to uni and be that out of it?
