This is the interesting quote from this story...

"The case is under a publication ban and virtually everything said in a Vancouver courtroom Friday, aside from the dates of the couple's hearings, cannot be reported."

    Why?

Are they still calling terrorism? The cops had to step way back when it became known what a couple of losers these two are. Pretty minimal threat.

As for publication ban, my guess is the prosecution asked for it, because of "national security" but what it really means is they don't want it to come out how much the cops overplayed this one.

They have to contain the amount of public knowledge and media spin that could influence the verdict.

The threat and how dangerous these two were. These are two junkie losers on welfare not connected to any group who got it into their addled heads they were going to blow up the legislature. IIRC they were nabbed long before they could actually do anything. Both of them have mental health issues.

A B.C. couple accused of trying to detonate pressure cooker bombs during Canada Day celebrations in Victoria have been described by a friend as "former street punks" who found Islam, but then exhibited increasingly odd religious behaviour before they were kicked out of a Surrey mosque.

The police are calling it an Al Qaeda inspired plot. Well, making pressure cooker bombs is advocated by Al Qaeda, and we saw the devastation they can bring in Boston, and good on the police for catching these two, but it just seemed a little overwrought at the time.

    Well
The RCMP claim the couple were "inspired by al-Qaeda ideology," but have not released any details on exactly what that means.

It is sort of odd that shortly after the boston Pressure cooker bombs that these two people decided to make the same.

I never heard of pressure cooker bombs before Boston either.
But apparently you can get the formal online, from al queda links.
so making those things is sort of Al Queda inspired

Personally i think all people that do terrorist activity are not mentally stable.
How they got there is varied but in the end they are nutters.

    but you did say

and how, are the cops overplaying it ,even on your radar?
And who exactly doesn't want it to come out.

    lol…sorry for lolling.

It was just me venting a little. Look at what you quoted yourself - what did the cops mean with Al Qaeda inspired. What it seems they meant is these two losers got on the internet and read up on how to make a pressure cooker bomb. Likely inspired by the events in Boston. It got played up big in the media at first, then things quieted right down once it came out who these people really were. Whether that's the cops's or the media's fault, I can't say, but likely both. They have an incestuous relationship anyway.

Probably a publication ban because the cops don't want to reveal their informants.

    nice come back.

    i like your venting.
    it's inspirational.
some would argue you use the term venting loosely as an excuse for verbal vomit about politics.
i would say to them "It makes for great material"

"here have a jelly baby , they really are quite good you know"

    how about a Jammy Dodger

Loser types who have been converted then directed towards terrorism and other radical acts is common when you are talking Jihad. I could give you ten examples off the top of my head if you like, but here's a blog discussion on the subject.

    http://sultanknish.blogspot.ca/2014/01/ ... nvert.html

There are four reasons for the rise of the Muslim Suicide Convert. Muslim converts are gullible, fanatical, suicidal and expendable.

There was a time in the 80's i sat with IRA guys who showed me their wounds and told me their stories and i bought the rounds.
I felt part of something , for my Grandmother housed and fed them in Canada when they were on the run, for decades.
Part of Grand Dad's pay went the way of "For the Boys". he wasn't Irish but went along with it all.

It all seemed so romantic to me, until i got older and realized they were just murdering bastards with no thought of what they were doing or did.

    Shame on my Granmother,

I can see the parallels and sort of understand how these kids get sucked into it.

Another year before they get a trial, why is this taking so long?

And as asked before why a publication ban?

Because you're going to hear a lot of "Allah in the snackbar", and that's too much for sensitive Canadian ears.
