Germany has ambitious renewable energy goals, but its reliance on coal is also growing. Towns like Atterwasch face relocation to feed demand for cheap brown coal.

You were saying what about the oil sands?

Stay green Germany, and stay classy Europe!

Good on Germany for coming to their senses about this AGW hoax.

WOW what an absolutely disgusting photo. I'll bet all of Germany looks just like that

I wonder why the eco-terorists don't use that photo when they bitch about Ft McMac.

No, you see, it's only acceptable for the ground to be covered in a black tar-like material when there are coffee shops on either side.

Go on Google Earth and you'll see they restore the strip-mined areas after they get done. It's only a very narrow band of earth that's opened up for the mine at any one time.

If you halt nuclear power, and you don't have hydro available, you're pretty much forced to hydrocarbon. I don't imagine the emissions from tjhis--or the oil sands for that matter--will amount to a drop in a bucket compared to the increase in emissions from China and India.

*Sarcastically claps* Good job Germany for closing their nuclear facilities. Go to coal!
