First there a propane shortage. Now, residents in Eastern Ontario are seeing their utility bills double.

I read the below at the SmallDeadAnimals blog. I wonder if there's anything to it.

There's more - "National supplies of propane were depleted by a late harvest that increased demand from farmers who needed to dry an unusually large amount of grain before storage."

To make ethanol.

Because in the CTV article Canadians were baffled as to the cause of the propane shortage.

If it turns out the cause is Al Gore's mandate on ethanol being injected into American gas isn't that almost humorous?

Well this is going to stink when I have to swap out the propane tank on the BBQ.

"Al Gore's Mandate????" Ummm you do know he was only a Vice President, and that was almost a decade and a half ago? Or did you think "Inconvenient Truth" was a was a federal law and got confused about the dates?

Also, note:

The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) is a USA federal program that requires transportation fuel sold in the U.S. to contain a minimum volume of renewable fuels. The RFS originated with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and was expanded and extended by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA).
FUN FACT: Replublicans controlled the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate in 2005 when the law was first passed. Maybe you meant to say its a George Bush Mandate?

Further to this. Farmers always dry their grain before storage! Whether it is for food or ethanol production, the grain MUST be dried out before storage or it will rot.
