A major Canadian Muslim group is demanding an apology from Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his chief spokesman for a comment it says links the organization to a terrorist group.
Which one is it where you're innocent if you're comment is true?
Defamation is only relevant if the communication is false.
Slander is defamation spoken and heard.
Libel is defamation that is seen, although media (which is seen and/or heard) is treated as libel.
Thanks, I got it now. If they go to court they don't have much of a case then. MacDonald's claim can be shown to be fact.
It probably doesn't matter. When you read the whole affidavit they're just doing that "Boo hoo, me such a victim", taggiya thing, right now. Basically they're just rubbing the imaginary tears from their eyes, pointing at MacDonald and demanding mamma spank. They haven't actually sued yet.
Ooh...the interview was with Sun. Gotta tune into Sun to hear their take.
The NCCM better hope there are no skeletons in their closet or else they're going to look really foolish after the government asks CSIS to send in an analyst to give their report on the group in court.
The National Council Of Canadian Muslims is the bastard offspring of CAIR-Can. CAIR-Can was the Canadian subsidiary of the US based Muslim Brotherhood front group CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial, the biggest terror financing trial in US history. A former board member of CAIR-Can, Jamal Badawi was listed as a person of interest in that trial.
"N_Fiddledog" said I'm peeved with Harper because he hasn't done anything about the NCCM which is known to him to have documented ties to terrorists.
Agreed, but it's not just Harper. There are a lot of organizations on both sides of the border that need to have their tax exempt status permission to breathe reviewed.

Because the comment by MacDonald is true. NCCM does have documented ties to Hamas. CTV forgot to mention that.
Not to worry. BlazingCatfur can help them out with an explanation.

Would that be slander or libel?

More on CAIR's terrorist connections
I`ll reiterate my initial declaration.....phuggum
Ya know...I even googled that.
Back on topic - here's the lawyer hoping to intimidate the Canadian Government with its "Lawfare Jihad" threats.
Watch the worm squirm, and try to get back to baseless rhetoric quick when confronted with even the most basic facts.
