Okay. Now that we have the nominations here's my picks for the Biggies.
Best Picture
12 Years a Slave
Best Director
Steve McQueen -- "12 Years a Slave"
Best Actor
Matthew McConaughey -- "Dallas Buyers Club"
Best Actress
Amy Adams -- "American Hustle"
Best Supporting Actor
Jared Leto -- "Dallas Buyers Club"
Best Supporting Actress
Lupita Nyong'o -- "12 Years a Slave"
I may be way off but if Hollywood stays true to it's politically correct roots 12 Years a Slave or Dallas Buyers Club could very well walk away with pretty much every Oscar they're nominated for.
But to be honest I'd love to see Matthew McConaughey win an Oscar since he should really have got it for his enlightened portrayal of David Wooderson in Dazed and Confused.
Don't the nominees and winners seem to be coming from movies that are more and more obscure over the years? I mean I'm sure they discuss say the Dallas Buyers Club at wine and cheese parties in New York and Hollywood, but seriously...is anybody actually going to see it? Had anybody even heard of it before the awards season?
I have. Honestly though, I hadn't heard of Nebraska before the golden globes last week.
But Hollywood is like that. Some movies are made simply to try and win oscars. The movie 'Inside Llewyn Davis' is this years oscar bait movie. The same a few years with the movie 'The Artist'. A foreign movie done in the silent style of the 20's. I'm amazed it didn't win every award the academy has.
