Kicking them off their job is a good thing, imho.
Btw, I LOVE this new Pope and I have great respect for the man.

I take it that when the victims go to the respective judicial systems, it will be dealt with. The Vatican does not, or so the story says.

I don't buy the spin with this Pope. He's not enlightened, liberal or any sort of progressive as the media would have you believe.
He's encouraging priests to speak out against gay adoption in Malta, he's done nothing to encourage responsible birth control and/or AIDS prevention in Africa and a lot of the hype, especially about the rampant unchecked capitalism, is a snippet taken out of context. He's not against unchecked capitalism because wealth disparity is a real concern...he's against it because it decreases tithing to his overly rich church.
He's the Pope. He could impose any change he wanted. He could turn over church records to the local police to assist in prosecuting pedophile priests.
Sorry, but still not impressed.
A Pope truly interested in change would allow women priests, end tithing, end anti-gay bigotry, call for responsible birth control in AIDS ravaged countries, quit interfering with reproductive rights in Catholic owned hospitals, pay land taxes in their respective municipalities since they expect the fire department to show up and sell off a few stolen statues and gold faucets to donate the money straight to the meek, who have yet to inherit the earth.

.....and be found by a nun, dead in his bed within the year.
No matter what, for some people it is just never enough.

Maybe I am being hard on him. What has he done to win your respect?
I'm not expecting him to change the entire Church from top to bottom in order to please a bunch of social liberals. And I certainly don't expect the Church to suddenly adopt the hiring practices of a secular government bureaucracy department. Cleaning up the criminality of the pedophiles & the cover-up that surrounds them, as well as the endemic corruption in the Vatican bank, is good enough to me. My expecting the Church to change every moral standard it holds would be foolish of me to expect, however. They aren't obligated to change everything to make me happy.

Considering the fact I am an atheist and have nothing with the Catholic Church, their arrogance and luxury has always deeply annoyed me. For as far as I know, Christianity is all about preaching love and not greed. He rides the bus. He lives in a 1 bedroom flat. He doesn't wear any jewelry. He doesn't judge. He takes a stance against child abuse by priests and acts.
Compared to any other Pope I have seen in my life time, this man is a saint.
I say de nut the fuckers also.. no patience for pedos at all
