Scientists plumbing the Pacific Ocean off the Hawaii coast have discovered a Second World War era Japanese submarine, a technological marvel that had been preparing to attack the Panama Canal before being scuttled by U.S. forces.

    Sounds like they might have kept one - the article notes that one still hasn't been found. It's probably disassembled in a warehouse beside the Ark of the Covenant! :lol:

    This is in part because the Soviets did the same to us with tech they seized from the Germans.

    Yeah, there was a huge race at the end of the war to capture enemy tech - just look at the coup in rocket technology the US got at Peenemunde.

    Stupid idea by a desperate nation. Maybe culled some intelligence on how to seal off the aircraft compartments, that's about it.
    That's why they were target practice within a year. And they just aren't about to divulge where they sank the 4th one.
