    RIP

My thoughts are with the loved ones of anyone involved. What a horrible end to the Thanksgiving weekend...

After seeing the footage on the news of how those cars ended up it actually is amazing that there were not more lives lost.

    Terrible accident.

From what I'm hearing on the news so far this sounds like operator negligence. The person driving the train (unidentified so far) says they applied the brakes and nothing happened. Nearby residents reported hearing the brakes on the train screeching so it sounds like the brakes were applied - but too late.

I'd bet a donut that the operator was on a cell phone when the accident happened. They looked up from a very important chat message only to discover, too late, that the train was heading for the curve at high speed and then tried in vain to slow the train.

    That's been the trend.
