Mulcair reaffirmed the NDP’s policy that a vote of 50 per cent plus one in a clearly worded referendum question would be enough for Ottawa to begin negotiations with Quebec on secession.
NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair is vowing to ?wipe the floor? with Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau in the next federal election on the issue of Quebec separatism as he defends the NDP?s controversial position that a bare majority is needed to trigger secession talks. ... The video clip, which stretches just nearly five minutes, captures only Mulcair?s comments on Quebec secession. It?s not clear whether he was responding to a question from the audience.
He justified the NDP position by saying that England ? which he called the ?mother of all parliaments ? reached the same bar for the upcoming independence vote in Scotland.
?England and Scotland sat down. They worked out a question together ? And you know what the percentage the Brits are requiring: they are requiring 50 per cent plus one,? he said.
The heck with England. Your Canada and just do it your way or you are a joke and slave nation of England. Your NDP is starting to sound like a British turn-coat bent on destroying Canada and making you the new UK with there joke of law and order.

It's too bad Mulcair has a shitty understanding of geography. Before ANY serious vote can be taken, a decision MUST be reached as to what exactly they'll be taking with them, land-wise. If he and the separatists seriously think Canada will put up with the country being physically divided because of secession, the whole brain damaged lot had better rethink that little idea.
The secession of Scotland will have ZERO physical effect on the country of England, it will remain intact with no foreign state dividing it in half. Hardly the same situation here. It's just too bad the dumbass is pandering to dumbasses.
I am definitely NOT an NDPer but he might just do that. Justin appears to be a bit of fluff. Conservative attack ads have jumped at it and now Mulcair is too.

Mmmmm I dunno. Attack ads tend to be less effective when the target is by far the most telegenic of the bunch. He also has an air of approachability, whether it's genuine or not I don't know. That ultimately could make him particularly appealing to the undecided. I have no doubt that a small percentage of women will vote for him regardless of his politics. I also think he's got more of an "in" with the younger voters than either Harper or Mulcair, although I'm pretty sure because he's a Liberal named Trudeau, westerners in general wouldn't vote for him if there was a gun to their heads. Next election could turn out to be very interesting. The only outcome I'm sure of is, none of them will be very good for Canada.

Have they finished that statue of Pierre Elliot Trudeau giving the finger to the people of Salmon Arm while whizzing through on the train, yet?
I can't see any sweeping, grassroots support for Trudeau in Southern Ontario, right now (Northern Ontario is a lot more like the West.)This next election is for the Conservatives to lose, not for the Liberals and NDP to win.
The Beard should remember that he's running for a Federal Party and the more time he spends kissing the ass of Quebec, he can kiss his title as Leader of the Opposition goodbye.
I think the election will still be Harper's to lose, as long as the economy is OK - especially if Flaherty can eliminate the deficit by then (with some tricky bookkeeping, of course). And as long as he can keep scandals to a dull roar.

Well, you got the "your Canada" right. We'll manage it without foreigners tossing in their two cents. Besides, I think your own country could use some attention.

Agreed. The population will tut tut yet overlook a lot if the economy is chugging along reasonably well.

He's no Jack Layton.
He was a senior cabinet minister in the Quebec government and a good portion of his caucus comes from there. Quebec is a big place that has become disenfranchised from Ottawa. He could do very well, there. Quebec could put him into power. He would be seriously wasting his time by targeting Lethbridge and Cardston with his message.

Of not because I don't really care.
