Hiroshi Yamauchi, who ran Nintendo Co. for 53 years and became Japan’s richest man with help from a mustachioed plumber named Mario, has died. He was 85.

    No doubt a man highly influential during my childhood. Who can forget the old Nintendo system, and the consoles and games that followed it. May he rest in peace.
