I hope he gets it, The piece of shit deserves every minute of it. I am perplexed as to why the robbery with fire arm charges were dropped, and why 2 of the three murder charges were Murder 2.
He's probabally pleading to lesser charges in hopes that he can get out and retrieve the rest of the money while he's yound enough to enjoy it.

I don't agree. The whole point of the death penalty is to get rid of those we don't think can be returned to society.
I do agree that his was the ultimate betrayal, and he should never see the outside of a prison again. But that would mean bringning the death penalty back, which I think has no value. Seeing a young man spending the rest of his life bored for 40 years in a small concrete box may just deter some others planning similar actions.
But we should have a 'suicide' option, should another guy like Castro decide to save the state some money.
It seems to me he was eligible for parole pretty quick. If anyone should have gotten a 40-year, no-parole sentence it should have been him.

"Life" with the chance for parole under the faint hope clause. The piece of shit used every faint hope hearing to revictimize the families of the kids he murdered. Death from cancer was too kind a way out for that filth.
It makes me happy the Baumgartner got Life without Parole for 40 years, though I would have perferred he get strapped to a pole and shot several times at close range in the face.
Baumgartner is the reason security needs to implement psych evaluations prior to hiring someone, I work in the industry and I see far too many people who have no busness doing the job.
Given his age and relative health my guess would be that the backstabbing scum sucking coward will live for at least another 40 years and be eligible for parole despite the Gov't new laws, especially since all his medical, dental, dietary and prison birthday parties will be paid for by the Canadian Taxpayers.
No wonder people advocate for the death penalty. There is no doubt Mr. Baumgartner murdered 4 or his unsuspecting co workers and when there is not doubt about a murder, there should be no doubt about the fate of the guilty and it doesn't included extended holidays at the taxpayers expense.

Forty years with no chance of parole was actually the result of a plea deal. The judge could have laid down a 75-year sentence, but Baumgartner benefited from several factors, which the National Post reports included his “age, his lack of a criminal record, and his willingness to plead guilty.” So he spends every day until his early 60s behind bars.
Baumgartner’s punishment wasn’t enough for many of his victims’ families. They remind us that, no matter how often we applaud ourselves for collective tolerance, or whatever we choose to call our rejection of the death penalty, reasonable people who’ve suffered terribly speak what sounds unthinkable to so many of us.
“My way of justice is back in the old days—hang him,” said Joseph Rejano, the brother of one of the murdered guards. “I think he should just be taken out behind the shed and put down, personally,” said Victor Shegelski, the husband of another murdered guard. Janet Stosky, the aunt of a murdered guard, was the most diplomatic among the crowd. “I am not sure, when you are going through this level of pain, if you can ever feel satisfied with the justice that is available,” she said.
