He was tracked down in Budapest in July 2012 by reporters from the UK's Sun newspaper, with help from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, and was put under house arrest.

He had fled to Canada after the war, where he worked as an art dealer in Montreal and Toronto, and disappeared in 1997 after being stripped of his Canadian citizenship.

The US-based Simon Wiesenthal Center said it was "deeply disappointed" by the news of his death.

"It is a shame that Csatary, a convicted... and totally unrepentant Holocaust perpetrator who was finally indicted in his homeland for his crimes, ultimately eluded justice and punishment at the very last minute,'' Efraim Zuroff, the centre's director, said in a statement.

More fail on our part, we could have sent him directly to detention.. and didn't.

There are fewer and fewer people left to prosecute these days.

Canada sheltered thousands of these assholes, apparently. Some of them must have been here because our immigration didn't check them out and some of them were certainly here because deals were struck with them for information in exchange for freedom. Not only are these monsters almost all gone, so are the Canadian officials who let them stay. It is history now ... unfortunately.

Without many of those 'monsters', the Americans would never have made it to the moon.

Precisely ... I remember the chorus to a humorous song from the sixties:

"Nazi, schmatzi says Werner Von Braun."

It never fails to amaze me that people will endlessly pursue the people who worked in the Nazi camps because they did what their government told them to do. Meanwhile, plenty of those same people proudly denounce people like me who question our government and who oppose the notion of it being so powerful that it could pull off a Holocaust.

I wonder how they manage this bit of mental gymnastics where they denounce people who resist a powerful government (when it suits them) and then denounce the people who resist a powerful government (when it suits them).

Your government did kind of pull off a Holocaust back in the 1860's thru 1880's with the attempted extermination of the Plains Indians by massacring almost all the buffalo and then locking them up on reservations with such awful hunting and cultivation possibilities where they could no longer fend for themselves. This endeavour was cited by some of the Nuremburg defendants as the pattern with which Nazi Germany attempted to colonize Poland and Western Russia. Kill off a lot of the locals immediately without any moral hesitation, enslave the rest after they've been terrorized into compliance, and eventually wipe them out altogether by starvation after ghettoizing them in enclaves. And, yes, the Nazis if victorious would have applied this strategy over the long term against the Slavic populations of the East as much as they did in the short term against the Jews.

The thing is that there's no credible evidence that your government today or in any foreseeable future would even want to perpetrate a Holocaust against anyone, even if they possess the resources to do so. It's a paranoid fantasy that has no validity in real life whatsoever. If a new Holocaust ever occurs in the United States it'll be when America becomes an extremist Christianist theocracy, with fundamentalists holding all the reigns of power and with all secular and democratic protections and liberties essentially erased from American law. If/when that happens it'll be an open field on gays, feminists, atheists, minorities of colour, intellectuals, and about a dozen other types of undesirables that the theocratic establishment would want "purified" out of existence.

There's a huge difference in having to lie to get in our countries than to simply say you were in the army or whatever. These are the ones who claim never to have been near the camps or at the villages that were slaughtered. I have no problem with those who wanted to move here after the war for a better life or those who were POWs and moved back. A man who lived across the street from me was one of Rommel's tank comanders and play hockey with his son all the time. He didn't have to lie to get into Canada and neither have many others I knew.

It was always amazing how many Nazis wouldn't cop to what they did. If they were so proud of what they had done while they were doing it, in wiping out a mortal threat to German blood and realm, you'd think that at least some of them would have admitted it. Not all, or even a majority, of the Nuremburg defendants or other captured bureaucrats and camp participants were found guilty. Of the guilty most were eventually freed after a five-to-ten year period of imprisonment and, except for the real heavy hitters and those that took part/organized the worst of the atrocities, never came close to getting the death penalty anyway.

It was the times and the USA was not so happy with tribes that warred with us because even in the 1880's there were still people alive who remembered the tribes who sided with the Brits in the War of 1812 and there were some serious grudges about that stuff. The Indians who didn't war against the USA didn't do well, either, but in the long run they did a far sight better than those who picked the wrong side.

The Canadian experience with the tribes was different because the tribes that went to war against the USA were on your side and when they moved into Canada they were not a threat to you.

From the German perspective the invasions of Poland and Western Russia was intened to bring the German-speaking people living in those areas under the Greater German Reich. The actual colonization had occured under Catherine the Great.

And, yes, they wanted the untermenschen to pack their bags and move to the .

And before you get too offended keep in mind that after the war ended the Allies turned a blind eye as Russian annexed half of Poland and booted the Poles to the west. Essentially the same policy but carried out by the Reds.

Remember that you're now defending my government and you're saying that it won't carry out a Holocaust yet in this same post of yours you condemned it because it did.

And where in hell you and Derby got your paranoid fantasies about Christians utterly eludes me.

I thought their intentions were a little more feudalistic. Aryan freemen with Slav serfs
