This could eventually lead to a military threat to our southern borders when the great corn and grain growing Midwest dries up and becomes desert. The Great aquifer underneath it is gradually disappearing and what is left is becoming toxic from surface pesticides and petroleum residues percolating down. A hungry, thirsty (and well armed!!) American population ... one that has traditionally felt "exceptional" .. poses a long term strategic threat to this country. It won't happen in my lifetime ... probably not in my children's lifetime, but my grandchildren may easily have to deal with invasion or annexation from a Southern neighbour who has a long history of this sort of behaviour.

This is why just publishing something doesn't mean it's true or usefull. Or further proof you can get funding for anything if you tag on something about AGW to it.

You mean you're afraid of the Mexicans invading your country, too?

I work the Border with MX and TX everyday. Atm temps here for about the last 18 days range from 105F to 115F and add 10 to 15 for index with humidity. Every-time it happens the Mexican Central American body count goes thru the roof and does shooting Smuggler's of Human's and Drugs. The Mexican Marines and improved Federal Police there also experience the same with the Central American's coming illegal or via smuggling in there nation. Bart the majority the last two years is coming from C.America. So the US and Mexico share a common problem Border Proxy War with C.America Nation's minus Costa Rica the US hamlet nation lol and Panama our Friends. Honduras is run by Cartels heavy armed and outnumber/gun US Army troops stationed there and recently the Honduran Army took control of all Prisons because the Cartels where running a mini government from there cells and controlling the Prisons. Arizona also experiences the same as Texas.

I suppose it's a vague possibility, but the reality is that given the massive size of the USA (population, wealth, military, etc), if they decide to take us over, it won't really matter what we do - there's simply too many of them and too few of us.

However, I'd like to think that Canada and the USA would be able to negotiate a reasonable solution (like shipping water south via pipeline or something) instead of going to war.

No, the main point of this article is that climate change will increase the likelihood of conflict in Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia (to name a few places) as glaciers/rivers/lakes dry up and water sources disappear.

Hey do just like Obama is doing. Ignore the fact that they are illegal and thus breaking the law, offer amnesty for votes in the next election. Way some people are talking it's the only way for the Dems to retain the Senate and White House.
