Everyone knows that a Black and Decker orbital sander with 20 grit sandpaper works 100% better than microbeads for cleaning the makeup off your face.

Pumice doesn't have the 'techno' cachet of 'advanced microbead technology'.

But with a Porter Cable 7424, it will remove makeup fairly well.

Obviously plastic is cheaper than pumice, or ground up coconut shell or anything natural.
CHEAPEST - the ruling factor in producing anything in business these days. It's probably illegal to even think of the results of applying the cheapest solution to anything.

Yep, that's the same reason Coca-Cola uses high fructose corn syrup instead of sugar nowadays.
Same goes for every other Western company out there - short term profits is the only thing that matters now. Who gives a crap if the planet will be unlivable in 100 years as long as CEOs and executives get their annual bonuses.
