Flight testing of the air force's long-delayed CH-148 Cyclone helicopters is set to begin next month in Nova Scotia.

    If the proposed new helicopters keep the crews safer and if they fit in the hangers on the frigates, bring them on ... ASAP. Fiddle with the software later (unless it controls the flight of the helicopter). The software in a military aircraft, that will probably be in service for decades, is going to get changed pretty frequently as technologies advance.

    out here on St. Margaret's Bay, NS, the Sea Kings from Shearwater do training a few hundred meters from the house quite often... the evening of the crash, there was a Sea King training at Shut-In Island out in the bay for some time, then headed up the bay towards land... I still wonder if that was the one that had that hard landing...

    ... and those Sea Kings were really old, even back then ...
