I know congressional committees work with classified materals all the time, but for issues relating to national security. I have never heard of such measures for something as benign as taxes.

Has anything like this ever happened in Canada?

The dinner menus for the Toronto G20 summit in 2010 are still classified.

Our governments are in love with classification or saying something violates 'privacy laws'. They are not so enthralled with reviewing classifications to see if they are or ever were still relevant.

To quote Edward Snowdon "The consent of the governed is not consent if it is not informed."
