The navigator of the sunken Queen of the North ferry has been sentenced to four years in jail, more than seven years after the ship went down off the central coast, taking two passengers with it.
Now that this is over the victims families and those who lost everything because of this sinking should be going after BC Ferries.
If this was any other corporation than the pseudo private one they claim it to be. The head of BC Ferries David Hahn, the Captain of the Vessel and the Minister of Transportation would have been held accountable for allowing a lax or non existent safety standard to exist and a piss poor personnel policy to permeate the entire fleet and not just the Queen of the North.
Ultimate responsibility. Not when it's a Government fuck up.
Well, it took 7 years, but it's good to see some justice.
"Justice" would include putting Lilgert back at the helm of the ship.

Ah, the joys of sovereign immunity.
Well, it took 7 years, but it's good to see some justice.
Doesn't sound like it's over just yet, the appeal didn't take long.
Neither did bail.

In granting bail, I doubt the courts considered him much of a pulic safety risk, unless of course someone gave him the keys to a freighter.
