OTTAWA — Canada’s privacy watchdog, expressing “significant concerns” about reports Canadians may have had their global telephone and Internet use monitored by spy agencies without their knowledge, will be digging for more information.
So. Lets see if I understand this. US and Canada share intel from all sources (where required or pertinent). US and Canada both collect metadata on everyone in their own country but not content. The content of messages can be read for foreigners (for both US and Canada) if I read correctly. So Canada can intercept content and data from the US and visa versa. Seems to be a way around the privacy laws if you ask me.
I guess that means that Ottawa is populated by a bunch of right-wing, racist, conspiracy nuts, eh?
Sense both sides share intell but wont collect on their own citizens. The two sides can collect on the others citizens then "share" the data.
