Twice a month when I get paid is "First Peoples" day as I forcibly send some of my taxes to the despot dictatorship failures we call reserve leadership who then squander and dole it out of friends while those not in their graces are forced to move to the city so they can barely stay alive as opposed to dying of starvation.

The official song of first peoples day would just be a sucking sound with a beat.

Hopefully followed by less-than-prominent Canadians telling these celebrities to go fuck themselves. Like billions a year flushed down the drain and endless apologies haven't been enough for the goddamn mooches.

I KNEW IT! I called this one back in December and I quote myself

    "I" said
"Happy Holidays? So what, now Happy New Year is culturally insensitive so that we have to lump it in with Christmas and give them both some bland, generic name?

Better rename Canada Day while we're at it cuz the name might offend those that live here but don't consider themselves to be Canadian.

Better rename Victoria Day as well since our Caribbean immigrants must surely find it culturally insensitive.

Labour Day should also be renamed since it's insensitive to the unemployed.

In fact, let's just ban all holidays since they are insensitive to people who have no friends or family to enjoy them with.

There, now everyone is equal and all the whiners can finally stfu about "feeling violated".

Different group I know but seriously, I WAS being sarcastic when I wrote that entire post 8O

a Green Party Member, a has been author/leftwing educator and a guy who played the Mountie on the Forest Rangers aren't really reflective of Canadian Society as a whole hell, they aren't really reflective of anything but a former author, a former actor and a political shit disturber all who for whatever reason are trying to force their supposedly enlightened views down our throats.

Sean Penn Syndrome is a reality.

So I'm gonna have to say no on this one and for the record they can go fuck themselves since the only thing that needs a name change is the term Prominent Canadians since their prominence disappeared long before the last century came to an end.

Renaming some of the local landmarks is one thing that natives have been asking for and I don't have much grief with that. This however is highly misplaced nonsense peddled out by has beens looking for a few more minutes of fleeting fame.

Chalk this up to another case of 'whatever' and move on.

Manitoba already has Louis Riel Day in honour of the role the Metis played in the creation of the province. The Metis claim to be First Nations. Le's give them Monday in recognition.

Silly people with silly ideas. Hardly worth the effort to get upset or worried about.

Rename Victoria Day? The holiday has existed prior to the birth of the nation. Why even consider renaming it after all these years? If anyone had any legitimate real gripes about the name, it would have been changed ages ago. Looks like some folks got way too much time on their hands.

Dont care about renaming a holiday - sounds contrived. But as usual, any reference to FN and out come the racist diatribes. Bravo people, you should be proud of yourselves.

Re-read twice. Couldn't find any racist diatribes. Benn came closest, but he's really telling the truth about how our tax money goes to support a broken system.

Calling FN people "goddam mooches" isn't racist now?

And just because the social commentary you describe isnt off-base in its own context (although at only 3% of the budget one could question whether the outrage is in proportion), again notice how the entire tone of the conversation is about denigrating an entire race because of the politics of their leaders. Its not proposed that it be renamed "FN Band Chief Day" but yet thats where everyone wants take the discussion.

How is this different than ranting about Black crime and welfare rates as an argument against observing Black History month?

I want a Dutch history month
