There is more to this than a payback angle, more to it than a Kessel scoring the game-winner in the Ottawa Senators' rink to dash the hopes of the Maple Leaf.
It's another nail in the coffin of women's hockey. The last thing the sport needed was another Canada-U.S. final, especially after Canada embarrassed Russia (the eventual bronze medalists) 8-1 in the semi-final. I imagine after Sochi women's hockey will be dropped from the Olympics.
Much as I love women's hockey, I have to agree with QBall.......the US and Canada have established supremacy in the sport and if other teams don't start to improve to the level of those teams, the sport is doomed. One can only watch the N Americans teams play each other so many times before it gets really old.
