A Montana man whose 12-year-old golden retriever ate five $100 bills hopes to be reimbursed by the federal government after picking through the animal's droppings for pieces of the money.

Can't blame him. If the rule is that you get a new bill for every 51% of a bill you return, and he did, I see no reason why he wouldn't get his money back.

The serial number is printed twice on a bill. In Canada, you need 100% of one of the serial numbers and at least a part of the second.
