All those 300 people must be having a good laugh.

Too bad the idiot circus will continue, namely the judges handling the cases.

    Keep laughing.

So it turns out they're all assholes the rest of the time too and the riot really wasn't just a one-time youthful indiscretion? Wow, go figure.

    Not surprising at all.

They were lucky enough to get such light sentences to begin with. If they are breaching their conditions then their sentence should be expanded. Doubt this would happen though.

They'll all be there doing it again this year too if the Canucks make a show in the playoffs. The police have probably learned from the last time but the cops take orders from that limp-dick mayor and city council you guys have out there, so it's probably back to the "don't persecute the misunderstood youngsters" crap that the lefties who usually dominate local politics specialize in.

More than 1,000 charges have been recommended by police against 315 individuals in relation to the Stanley Cup riots. The Crown has approved charges against more than 168 people. Several dozen have pleaded guilty, but only a handful have been sentenced.

Why is our legal system so slow?

No point in punishment if it's not timely.

Because the lawyers make tons of money by stretching the system to its limits,

and idiot judges keep up with the obscene amounts of leniency.

There's also the =reality that Canada isn't exactly awash in lawyers and judges. Especially judges, and that's where a lot of the backlog comes from.

Since the Lefties like Gregor the "Bicycle King" Robertson like socialism so much why don't they take a page from the soviet system and appoint Troika's to hear cases. :D

Then these Troika's can pass judgement and sentence the offenders in record time. No muss, no fuss no legal obligations.

That should solve a couple of problems. It'd be alot more cost effective than having some scuzzy bottom feeding lawyers making their livings off of one riot and the need for judges would be eliminated so they could go back to being what they're really good at. Bottom feeding lawyering.

I'm just shocked that these normally upstanding people breached their conditions. Who would have thought?

Wow are you confused. Mayors don't appoint judges, those are appointed and funded by the provincial free enterprisers that don't like taxes that pay for a judicial system. These rioters are the least of the problem, we have serious criminals having charges dismissed because they spent too much time waiting for trial.

But, pretty common refrain from the right, like yourself - we don't need due process, just hang em all. Or you could have death squads - that's a rightie favorite as well.

Next time for your benefit I'll put the sarcasm tag on my posts.

    From the Merriam Webster Dictionary

    Definition of DEATH SQUAD:

: any of various extremist groups whose members kill suspected political adversaries and criminals

I didn't notice it saying "Right Wing" anywhere in the definition which would lead me to believe that it's not exclusive to one political bent and just because your side called themselves Guerilla's and Freedom Fighters doesn't exhonerate their actions in killing their political opponents without due process, just like the right wing Defenders of Freedom did. :D

So I guess it's a matter of symantics but the result is still the same. Innocent people dead both left and right. But it's pretty apparent you people only think the Right can commit these atrocities.

And yes you are right and we do need more judges so criminals don't get off because of bullshit time laws but, by saying these asswipes who refuse to follow the rule of law even after they've been sentenced are the least of our problems is pretty much akin to saying anarchy is acceptable in our society.

Go straight to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect another light sentence.

Couple of weeks removing Scottish broom and Himalayan Blackberry would fix their little red wagons. No jail time needed.
