Canada's heft as a maker of automobiles is shrinking, and a new analysis of the world's car industry from Scotiabank suggests we're barely in the Top 10, leapfrogged by Thailand.

More jobs to be lost in the future here as more manufacturing shifts out of our country...

    Sad.

I'm not overly concerned if they're building crappy cars for domestic use that people outside the country don't want to buy. That's not the case in Canada. How about focusing on quality over quantity?

Do we build any cars here for the Asian market?
One of the Thai models we'll see here is the replacement pickup truck for the Colorado

Unlikely. China and Japan bar imports or heavily tariff them such that it's not feasible. The type of vehicles the average person in India and the other nations can afford is not the type that we build. Let's just say when designing a vehicle for Indian market consumer cost should be paramount and safety an afterthought (hence the TATA business model).

The second Gen Colorado's intended for the N.A. market will be built in the US, not Thailand.
