A California mother is talking about what she sees as a worrying trend, news that school police in her city will now have access to 14 AR-15 assault rifles, for use in the case of a mass shooting or the threat of such an attack.

"..school police in her city will now have access to 14 AR-15 assault rifles, "

It's not like the students will be walking around with them.

That's because Mac 10's are easier to conceal.

Why issue assault rifles to the schools. All they have to do is remove the metal detectors from the entrances and the kids'll take care of themselves. :D

All joking aside. You never hear of these mass shooting at an inner city school do you? So, there must be a reason for that and it isn't because all inner city kids are sane. My guess is that it's because alot of inner city kids are armed and willing to use thier weapons to defend themselves.

Most times, it's the teachers who need them to protect themselves from the students.

    Wow, paranoia to the extreme.

Maybe they should just surround schools with 10 foot walls topped with razor wire and guard towers...

Change that to "thanks Harper" and every left wing nut on the CBC forums would have that for an avatar..if they don't already.

    "It's Harper's FAULT"..lol

Couple of problems with this plan. First off the AR15's will be in a safe that only the Officer has access to so, how long will it take them to get the weapon operational?

My guess would be after alot of innocents had already been killed or how about if the Police Officer is killed then what good is the weapon?

Secondly has the Fontana School Board ever heard the term collateral damage? Can you imagine a shooter armed to the teeth with automatic weapons and quite possibly body armour shooting it out inside a school full of kids with a cop armed with another automatic weapon? The thought should terrify any sane person. 8O

The only way these weapons are going to be a benefit to these schools is if they come under attack from an outside agency and have to be defended like the Alamo which unless North Korea declares war on the Fontana School board is highly unlikely.

This isn't the solution to a problem. This is part and parcel of the insanity that is the real problem in the States.
