The new paint job on Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s plane won’t be cost neutral after all. Repainting the grey Polaris CC-150 military aircraft, red, white and blue, will cost taxpayers an additional $50,000, The Huffington Post Canada has learned.

Damn that looks good. What a bargain for 50 grand.

Thanks for the link Curtman, I have a Cc-150 in FSX I'm going to repaint it with this livery.

Blue the colour of the sky...it was gray.

Blue is also cheaper than red.

Also the traditional colours of the RCAF. A lot of people are concerned we're Americanizing ourselves, but the tone of blue and the tone of red will match those found on the Union Jack, not on the Stars 'n Stripes.

$50,000 is peanuts in the whole scheme of things - I'm more worried about the billions he's cutting from defence than a paint job on an airplane - even if the colour scheme kinda resembles that of his party.

"There's no place like home" could become the battle cry of the Canadian military as spending on overseas operations is forecast to take a steep dive.

Internal Defence Department reports show total spending on foreign deployments could to drop to just $5 million in the 2014-15 fiscal year from the current anticipated level of $476 million.

Something funny about that pricing. Doing a little online search has the average price for a jet that size at about $150,000. As boot mentioned it's nothing in whole scope of things, but a $50,000 increase sounds a little strange for the small amount of higher priced paint needed.

Perhaps they aren't doing a complete strip down and repair of the hull? Just a repaint might be $50k.

No they would strip it right down the the skin. Adding layers of paint also adds weight which they never want. Repairs to skin should only happen when it's damaged and would be grounded till fixed.

Just take that Airbus and ram it up Europe's rear End. Get a Boeing and I'm sure Boeing will build her in Canada with Canadian Blood or pimp out the orders to Bombardier. Could be worse I could say Embraer. A310 is Dead on Tech and safety past time. Yes so is the US's AF1. That will stay till Obama gets sacked to termed out.
