Two boisterous soccer fans were ejected from Rogers Arena after trying to bring some zip to a Vancouver Canucks game. The fans were are part of a group called the Southsiders that frequent Vancouver Whitecaps games.
The weren't kicked for cheering, they were kicked because the rule is standing is permitted only in the back row to avoid obstructing other's view. Even in BC Place where the Whitecaps play there is designated sections where fans can stand the entire game, but you can't do it in every section. So I don't know why these guys would think the rule in Rogers Arena doesn't apply to them.

Devils advocate here; I paid the same $$$ for my seat as you did for yours. I want to SIT and watch the game. Why do you think it is OK to stand up in front of me and block my view? On your part that is a total lack of consideration for others!

Exactly, people stand and cheer all the time, then return to their seats, they don't remain standing for the rest of the game blocking the view of everybody behind them! They were warned about this a couple times before finally being asked to leave. Typical soccer fans.....

Nah. I just don't see the dif between this type of rude behaviour at a game or at a movie theater.
On the one hand I get the soccer fans point. They said they want to bring what they see as the fan energy of soccer matches to Rogers.
On the Canucks fan board I've heard the complaint made about Rogers being quiet. They complain that ticket prices are so high only what they call "the suits" can afford the better tickets. The suits are quiet. The claim is Rogers is a quiet stadium compared to other places, or compared to the old stadium. No fan energy like you would see if the average guy could afford a seat.
On the other hand a hockey game is not a soccer match. It's smaller and hockey is faster. When you stand, you block a greater session of the match, of those behind you.
Here in TO, BMO field has a booster section for rabid fans who want to stand and cheer all game, waive giant banners, etc. Actually didn't think I was.going to side with Rogers stadium on this one, but it makes sense.

Same at BC Place. Thing is, according to the Southsiders, they were in the back few rows, willingly traded seats with anyone who was blocked and received no complaints from the people in front.
I'm a season ticket holder for the Whitecaps and the Southsiders are harmless. It's not like they're crazy like Scousers or Geordies.
That's why they call it No-funcouver.

Q: What's the difference between a Baptist revival and a baseball game?
A: At a Baptist revival they sing 'Stand up for Jesus' and at a baseball game they scream, "Sit down for Christ's sake!"

Maybe they were kicked because they were cheering and keeping people awake.
