BestBuy = Futureshop. Same owners, more suckage.
I refused to shop at Best Buy because they have custom Credit/Debit machines, and refused to tell me if they stored my card # and PIN after the transaction ended.

Good riddance.
Can't say I'll miss them when their gone. Never even set foot in their store.

Last time I went to BestBuy, I had to wait for them to open a counter where I could pay cash.
Can you elaborate on the store card# and PIN ? I thought they couldn't do that.

They can. Many companies do, because return fraud is so prevalent. I can understand if they store my card number (because there is no personal information on a Debit card), but I cannot think of any business case where storing my PIN also makes sense.
Most of the data breaches in the last few years, of department store data involved 'loyalty card' information that was tied to actual first and last names, along with cedit card numbers and PINs. I also can't imagine why that data was stored on a computer that was internet accessible. But I guess that is my nature.
I've had good experiences at Future Shop, especially with their selection of computer related items (keyboards, monitors) being better than Staples. Could care less about Best Buy though. The few times I went in the place was a mess, especially the dvd section, with lots of empty shelves. Why have a greeter at the front door when you can't find a staffer inside?

'Cause the greeter isn't really a greeter, he's a loss prevention tool to prevent people from walking out with stuff
Best Buy has massive overhead which causes their prices to be greatly inflated on a lot of things. I have no problems with their stores but it's quite the operation.
I liked FS before Best Buy bought them. These days all my technical stuff is bought online. Sometimes from FS/Best Buy, mostly Newegg, NCIX, or TigerDirect.
Having worked for the chain, I'll tell you that the staff at Best Buy are at least somewhat honest - many of the ones I worked with at Future Shop were less reputable than used car salesmen!

Good riddance. I realize that but they haven't given any hints if they are closing their Furturshop stores as well as their Best Buy.
I guess the rip-off artists had to go somewhere after International Stereo went under. If there was a place in the electronics/stereo market where they specifically ONLY hired thieves then IS was it.

That is exactly what I have been seeing in the Futureshop in my area.

Pre or post takeover?

Shortly after Best Buy bought them out...
