News release from Eurofighter: The Eurofighter community welcomes Oman as a new member to join the international defence programme. Oman will become the seventh customer to operate the world’s most advanced new generation swing-role/multi-role combat airc
Trouble with buying planes that are available on the open market like the Typhoon is that you end up with the same technology as your potential enemies.
Here's a ranking list for the top jet figthers. To bad the Americans won't sell us the Raptor but if we're looking for cheap, why not the F16 which is ranked right in the middle of the pack ahead of the Typhoon and behind the F35. I didn't notice any F18's on the list though no matter what version.

From what I understand, the training the CF gets should be able to compensate for this, to a degree at least. No?

I guess the problem is that every list is subjective, this one included.
Nah I don't really care for this one either. Maybe if it was written and published by a respectable defence publication (with a little more indepth analysis) I might pay some attention.
At least this one didn't have bombers in it.
FYI stay out of the comments page, it's just one big "my dick is bigger" argument between the Indians and the Chinese.

Ya just had to mention that, didn't ya. Now I'll have to go look.
This list is fake one ..' where is LCA tejs fighter developed by India
WTF last time I looked India couldn't develop a car that would pass the most rudimentary safety requirments in the rest of the world and now they're claiming first place in Fighter Aircraft design.
They should stick to things they're good at like avoiding toilet paper and telemarketing.
THe images can be blown up and read on this blog:
Ignore the guy commenting around the web, hawking the Gripen for Canada.

Those goof-offs at gizmowatch don't even know what a jet fighter is, nevermind knowing enough to properly rank them.
Replacing F-18's with F-16's is almost as silly as the Avro Arrow idea.

I thought it odd that the F18 was missing and a the F16 was on. But it wasn't just Gizmo Watch that went that direction.
But here's a list that you may find more to your liking.
