When I saw this on the news tonight I got so mad I wanted to kill someone. This crime goes beyond despicable and the blase way the Mounties are treating it is just as fucking bad.

How can a person or persons do this to another human being, FFS kill them then at least they didn't suffer like this but doing this to another living creature defies logic.

But, my guess is that since it was just a homeless woman we'll never see her attackers brought to justice which is pretty much like the lady said.

"People who live in poverty are perceived to have less value. She is a human being and something dreadful has happened to her. What is so different about these circumstances that they (RCMP) don’t need to make it public? Why aren’t they asking for witnesses?”

I guess for the Mounties a horrific assault on a homeless person isn't quite high profile enough to bother warning the public about.

I understand why you feel that way FOG.

It is horrific that shit like this happens. And to have it happen to someone who is already vulnerable to being becoming a victim of a crime because of the circumstances they are in... too terrible for words.

This type of crime against should be a cause for public concern and the RCMP should have issued a public warning.

If the public wasn't at risk then why issue a false warning?

What would they say? Homeless people stop being homeless it's not safe.

Hate to say, but you're right on this. As cold as it sounds you're dead right and at the same time, so is FOG.

There are no good answers to this problem.

It stinks that anyone gets assaulted, but if you're homeless you increase your odds given that you're already outside of society's umbris of protection.

That assumes that the homeless are there simply because of a series of bad choices. Not quite so simple, which I would think you already know, Bart.

Let me pose a couple of questions. How do you know the public wasn't at risk?

What if she was assaulted for reasons other than homelessness and just for agruments sake let's say this happened to a soccer mom walking her poodle, would the mounties issue a warning for women to take care?

My guess would be yes but, since this woman was homeless, they decided on their own not to issue a public warning despite the fact they don't really know or have any evidence as to the reason she was attacked.

    Can you say Robert Picton????????

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking FOG. Well stated and I'd rep you too if I could. I just didn't feel like explaining myself to the responder, thought the emoticon would do. It's all way too obvious to me and should be to any intelligent person.

“The issue for me is if this was a middle-class woman or man attacked it would be all over the media and people would be talking about it,” she said.

So why isn't it all over the media? Here's the media attacking the police for not putting this story all over the media. The media doesn't need the RCMP's permission to publicize this. You can bet that if this was a soccer mom, and the RCMP didn't release a press release, the media would be off and running with the story anyway. Time to look in the mirror.
