Only the owners can vote on moving teams.

Why would the owners force Pheonix Coyotes to stay in Phoenix? The league actually had to take over the team even when there were people willing to buy it an move it.

Because 2 teams, one of which is profitable didn't want them moving into what they percieve as "their" market. :D

And for those of you who still think the owners are running the League, I give you this article.

    http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/l ... story.html

    NHLPA questions league's motives

The NHL Players' Association is questioning the league's motives after news surfaced Tuesday that team owners and general managers were given a 48-hour window last week to speak with players about the NHL's latest contract offer.

"Most owners are not allowed to attend bargaining meetings," said Steve Fehr, the NHLPA's special counsel. "No owners are allowed to speak to the media about the bargaining. It is interesting that they are secretly unleashed to talk to the players about the meetings the players can attend, but the owners cannot."

Methinks that the owners sold their souls to the devil after the Dark Lord won the last round of negotiations with the NHLPA.

So anyone who thinks the owners are running the should should give their head a shake since they obviously abrogated their rights to Buttman and he's not speaking for the owners but himself and his vision of what Hockey should be.
