Thanks for at least obeying one order; the order to leave.

But 5 years to get her out, that's ridiculous.

If you aren't willing to fight a war even when you don't agree with it don't sign up for the military.

If she had been drafted I think however she would have had a very valid reason for seeking asylum.

When did everyone decide to stop using the term "deserter" in favour of "war resister"?

A deserter get's shot, a war resister gets applauded which, is how the antiwar poltically correct thought process works, with the truth being the loser in this whole scenario.

There are no excuses for this woman. She wasn't tricked or misled nto joining. She joined when the war was already on so she can't try to say she didn't expect to have to fight. She wasn't even stop-lossed. She's just a coward and a deserter.

Not really sure, but the article does say she was deployed in Iraq but fled she was about to be redeployed. Also I guess the term war resister does not apply as she already served one tour. More like a redeployment resister.

One of the articles I read specifically mentioned that she wasn't stop-lossed. She has served 3 months in Iraq and was set to go back after her leave.

if it was a matter of her having been stop-lossed or otherwise dealt with unfairly I would probably have more sympathy but that doesn't seem to be the case here. She signed up because she needed a stable paycheque and she wanted the $8000.00 signing bonus. Then she got a taste of war and decided she didn't want any more. As much as I can understand not liking killing or almost being killed, that's what you fucking sign up for in the army!

She's a bit of a victim. Three kids in a one bed apartment. The US Army should take a look at it's recruiting practices (which I'm sure it's done since GWII) as they used to take anybody with a pulse.

That aside she deserves no pity. The lefty wankers in Toronto just used her as a prop to further their own agendas.

    Resister my arse.

The media love using it like they use 'insurgent' for terrorists or 'sexual assault' instead of rape. They think if they call deserters something else we won't notice that they are cowards that reneged on their contract with their Country.

No, she's a deserter, end of story.

Agreed, but but 5 years, sheez.

The 5 years is only because she appealed and drained the system to the very last drop, even had children in Canada and she brought her family over. It would have been only a year and a half had she just done what she was told in 2009. Then again, she's obviously not good with authority.
