EXCLUSIVE: CBC News is on board as Parks Canada launches the biggest expedition yet to find the missing ships from Sir John Franklin's doomed 1845 effort to discover the Northwest Passage.
Very true and I've seen some wrecks that have been pushed deeper and had their superstructure shaved off from the ice. I may be confusing my ship wrecks here.......but I believe they had a contact or evidence of a wreck in around 100' depth mark??
Here's a picture of a wreck I dived years ago that had the bow above water when it sunk but was pushed down 4'-6' deeper and tore off the wheel house. The stern sits around 95'.

I bet it's well preserved. The water is extremely cold and covered from UV by depth and ice.
Judging by the condition of HMS Investigator...
or HMS Bredalbane...
