Canada's veterans affairs minister says the people of France are grateful for the sacrifice Canadian soldiers made at Dieppe.

Visited the beaches and the graveyard in 1998, very overwhelming to see what they were up against and expected to accomplish. Sobering to see all the Maple Leaves on the headstones, a real shame. We will never forget

When I see a place like this my first thought is to understand the history, what when and why and things of that nature, but then you start to realize that these were ordinary people who did extraordinary things the men in the graveyards gave all. The soldiers here didn't die in peace but may they rest in peace.
