Getting worse rather than better. Pretty soon it'll be the Americans going 'we're no.7', and making fun of Canada for having the the worst health care in the developed world

If the US Supreme Court doesn't dismiss Obamacare then you folks will get to laugh at us quite a lot. Obama's minions have already started beating the drum for health care cuts by saying that men should no longer be screened for prostate cancer, breast cancer screenings for women under 50 should be eliminated (which would have meant my wife would have died), and they're taking up the euthanasia argument as a means of reducing health care expenditures.

Our system is not perfect, but there's none better and the proof of that is found in how many government leaders from countries with national health care come to the USA when they need care. The little people in their countries can go pound sand, but these folks spare no expense when it comes to their healthcare.

American health care is the best there is...if you can afford it. Canadian health care is great if you can live long enough to receive it.

Is that screening now free for everyone or is that only when you can afford a health care plan?

While I like some things about the US, don't get all excited that the US is the shit when it comes to medicare. It's nowhere close.

The US has some of the best doctors in the World in various fields and you can pay for services...which is why a lot of the RICH visit the US for care.

I want that option here in Canada. Keep my taxes the same, but allow me to seek private care when I need it.

I want to be able to pay for an MRI/CAT rather than wait 6-8 months so I can find the source of my pain and get the issue resolved.

    And this is a revelation.....................how?

Unless there's a giant infusion of monies into healthcare the simple fact that the population is aging dictates that wait times will increase.

Only interested in what you can get for free, eh?

Regardless of who pays for the screening now, the government wants it eliminated so the government doesn't have to pay for it under Obamacare. They'll also obtain a net savings from people who end up in hospice care as opposed to being treated for various cancers.

Health care isn't free in Canada, Bart. We just pay it through our taxes rather than letting the private insurance companies parasites get rich at our expense.

That says enough. If you can afford to pay for a screening YOU won't die. If you can't YOU WILL.
Regardless if they eliminate it. AS LONG AS YOU PAY, you get your screening. How many "wives" will die because they can't? Because their bosses do not offer a health care plan? Do not offer benefits? But hey, NOT YOUR PROBLEM.

Only interested if it is free? Fuck that. You are yelling "my wife would have died". Guess what. PEOPLE ARE DYING because they CAN'T AFFORD IT.

And, according to this article, you get what you pay for.

Myself, I pay for decent coverage through Kaiser Permanente and in thirty years of being with them I've never had a complaint. People who buy cheap-snot insurance over the net for $15 a month get what they pay for and that's their choice.

True, you pay far less than I do but you also get far less than I do.

I'll keep what I have, thank you.

Bart only understands HIS WIFE would have died if the screening was eliminated. He doesn't care that OTHER PEOPLE's wives die because they can't afford a health care plan, because they have to save up for the college educations for their kids, AND try to get themselves through college while working 2 jobs to keep their home from being foreclosed.
