It makes you wonder about the justice system when murder only merits 4 years.

it makes you wonder about the people sitting on the bench who are only willing to hand out the bare minimum sentence allowable under our criminal code.

Because that's a crime against your government and they don't tolerate sh*t like that. It's obviously okay to murder mere subjects but God help you if you run off a $50 on your printer. XD

It's the ridiculous laws that someone get's a chunk of time taken off while they sit in jail before the judgement. Something like time and a half or double time. A family friend who was stabbed four times in the kidneys and almost died, while his friend was murdered in front of him, the perpetrator only got 4 years for the whole thing thanks to time served. Bullshit!

All the worry about Sharia law is needless.

Women are worth less under Canadian law.

it for this reason the CPC are wanting mandatory minimums to deal with situations just like this. This kind of sentence is outrageous in my opinion.

They passed that act. How would it have affected this case? My guess is not one whit. But, if a mandatory minimum had been in place, this guy would probably not have pled guilty, and who knows, might have walked altogether.

one step at a time, they can't address everything at once. But, let me guess your completely against minimums so you don't mind guys like this getting 4 yrs for murder. I understand that in some circumstances, their should be flexibility in the law however; in most cases that isn't the norm and we get sentences such as this.
