With how this country is facing massive deficits I have to wonder why Mulcair thinks it is a good idea to bail out an economically-reckless Europe (save for Germany.) I wonder where his true loyalties lie considering that he holds dual citizenship with France. Hm.

And then once we give them the money they will condemn us for the Calgary Stampede or our seal hunt. The reason we don't need a bailout is because we aren't spending all our money on bailing out countries that have yet to learn how to balance a budget.

So you are giving kudos to Harper then? Not breaking out the checkbook everytime someone stubs their little toe has kept Canada from begging for a bailout from the IMF,unlike the left wing nanny states of southern Europe that so many people want to emulate. I'm not trying to start a fight here, I'm just asking. It is not every day that someone from the NDP has something nice to say about Harper. Mabey there is something to that whole Aztec calender 2012 thing. :D

I don't think anyone will disagree with Harper on this one. When was the last time Europe ever came to bail us out?

I'm not sure it's as simple as you all make out. Just as within a country, a bailout can prevent greater damage to the economy than the bailout itself, so this is true on the international stage. Harper is all hot to trot for a trade agreement with Europe. Doesn't make much sense if there isn't a Europe left standing to trade with. But I certainly agree that just sending them money so they can continue to blow it isn't the answer. I'm not sure anybody really knows what the answer is, but reflexive austerity doesn't seem to be working out all that well either.

It's been working for us, and in all honesty we haven't been all the austere.

I will give kudos to anyone that tells the idiots leading Europe to shove their latest demands up their ass. I still hate Harper but anyone that says he has done absolutely nothing good is an idiot.

and given the vast number or our war graves from two world wars littering Europe, I don't think there's enough money or resources in the whole continent to ever repay the debt they owe us for giving them their freedom.

Not a single penny to Europe, period. The Eurozone and it's shared currency is a failed experiment and a disasterous idea that never should have been implemented. It's overdue to let it die it's inevitable death instead of trying to save something that was so wrongly brought into existence.

Bailouts don't work. Government stimulus schemes only stimulate the economy if that money gets into the hands of the people. The US bailout of Citi went straight into the pockets of the same people that created the crisis. If you want to bail out a bank, you give money to the people who use the bank's services, not to the bankers.

I think we should take care of our economy first, and second the Euro is their problem not ours. We never had a say and when we did comment, it was scoffed off.

Looks like socialisim isn't that free after all.

Our economy doesn't exist in isolation.
