Hey Hey, ho ho... give us more free shit or we're going to go....
Bye.
Well, guess what? I don't want to have to pay more for healthcare, sustenance or a roof over my head, but I do it, because that's life. Maybe we should all go out and protest....everything should be free. Maybe the magic money fairy can come down and sprinkle magic money dust over the province, and everything will be OK.
Idiots.
For example -- I often watch "house International" on TV. I find it very interesting to see houses and apartments all over the world. It's amazing though to see what people in America or Canada expect/demand. They demand perfection. Most are not willing to put one tiny bit of effort into anything. They would not even think of painting a wall themselves. If they don't like the colors they won't buy unless the seller comes down in price to compensate for them having to hire someone to redecorate and of course everything (appliances) have to be the very latest and biggest. Very few would think that maybe they could "settle" for something that needs a tiny bit of redoing and maybe do it as they can afford it.
Most of the houses are what we used to call mansions. What used to be what only the very rich could afford is now "normal" for everyone. How things have changed in this day of "entitlement" and instant gratification.
As it was pointed out, these young ones that love to protest everything and complain about the cost of everything while they have thier $7 Lattes everyday and $400. apps and fancy cars are getting just a wee bit tiresome.
-------------------------
Thing is, they CAN afford it. Quebec has the cheapest tuition in North America. I managed to pay for my degree just by working part-time in a doughnut shop. On top of that, there is a legion of bursaries for kids if they, or their parents, really can't afford it.
They've been protesting for four months straight. Closing streets, setting cop cars on fire, smoke bombs in the subway, crippling of the downtown core, driving away tourists. There have been hundreds of arrests. We're sick of it. There's a line in the sand and neither side wants to give in.
The government of Quebec has been more than compromising....not good enough.
Many are still wearing masks and nothing else.
I think this has grown past just tuition fees. Frankly a little rebellion is quite useful now and then. I hope it catches on in other provinces.
In the west a rebellion would be against Quebec, demanding they get no special treatment or that the other provinces get the same powers as Quebec has and that the extra funding be cut off as the general view is that Quebec is a black hole that just absorbs money and only talk to the rest of Canada long enough to demand more.
